New Hampshire GOP debate scrapped as Asa Hutchinson quits race
When Donald Trump eventually took the stage to face his opponents, Nikki Haley promised that she would not participate in the next GOP debate.
The Republican primary debate scheduled for Thursday night in New Hampshire has been canceled by ABC News due to Nikki Haley’s commitment to participate only in the event that Donald Trump takes the stage with his opponents.
Ms. Haley claimed on X that Mr. Trump had “ducked all” of the GOP debates and that he now had “nowhere left to hide” following the Iowa primaries.
The next debate I do will either be with Donald Trump or with Joe Biden. I look forward to it,” she said.
At the 2024 Iowa Caucuses on Monday night, Mr. Trump easily won with a predicted 51% of the Republican vote.
Mr. DeSantis defeated Ms. Haley for second place, and both promised to go on to the primary in New Hampshire.

Governor Ron DeSantis
With less than eight percent of the vote, Vivek Ramaswamy withdrew from the contest and endorsed Mr. Trump.
Tuesday saw Asa Hutchinson withdraw as well, having fallen short of the requirements to participate in the previous debates. At a rally in New Hampshire on Tuesday night, Mr. Ramaswamy joined the former president on stage, where they hinted at the prospect of him being chosen as his running mate.
After Trump’s victory in Iowa, Biden issues a warning to the people, saying, “It’s you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans.”

President Joe Biden
Following Donald Trump’s resounding victory in the Iowa caucuses, President Joe Biden issued a warning to voters, saying, “It’s going to be you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans.”
With 51% of the vote in the Hawkeye state, Mr. Trump emerged as the clear winner on Monday night, moving one step closer to winning the Republican presidential nomination as the primary season officially began.
With twenty-one percent of the vote going to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, nineteen percent going to former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, and only eight percent going to biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, the latter decided to drop out of the race and support the winner.
“Looks like Donald Trump just won Iowa. He’s the clear front runner on the other side at this point,” Mr Biden posted on X overnight.
According to the Washington Post, CNN had scheduled a debate for Sunday at New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, two days ahead of the highly anticipated Granite State match. After former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and former president Donald Trump declined to attend, the cable network terminated the event.
A CNN representative sent an email to the Post stating, “We will continue to pursue other opportunities as the campaign season progresses through 2024.”
On Tuesday, ABC News declared that it would be postponing its Thursday discussion with Manchester, New Hampshire’s WMUR-TV.
Our intent was to host a debate coming out of the Iowa caucuses, but we always knew that would be contingent on the candidates and the outcome of the race,” an ABC News spokesperson said in a statement. “As a result, while our robust election coverage will continue, ABC News and WMUR-TV will not be moving forward with Thursday’s Republican presidential primary debate in New Hampshire.”
Trump has turned down every request to a debate. Meanwhile, according to the Post, Haley has taken part in prior debates. According to the Post, Haley stated that she would not attend any forum with Trump or President Joe Biden if she declined ABC’s invitation.
This scenario has turned into an interesting one as President Donald Trump enters the race while couple of the candidates withdrawing their candidature from US Presidential race 2024
